Three Costs of Mediation

Posted by Andrew Gilliland | Oct 11, 2022 | 0 Comments

There are three categories of costs that affect any dispute that ends up in Court.

(1) Out of pocket costs.  These include attorneys' fees, depositions, expert witnesses, trial exhibits.  You pay these costs whether you win or lose.

(2) Time:  What is the value of your time? Are you making money or losing money by being involved in this dispute?  What is it worth to you in terms of your time to walk out of here today with this resolved?

(3) Psychological cost:  Uncertainty creates stress.  Without a resolution today you lose control over the process and turn it over to the Court decide.  Ask yourself if this is something you want to live with for the next several months of maybe years?

Resolving your dispute through mediation can save on all three costs.
